My love of photography and capturing moments started when I got my first film camera for my 10th birthday. Yes.... I'm pretty old and I learned photography on film. Fast forward about 15 years, I was working in health care and decided to go back to school for photography. I had always taken every art class possible, as art is one of the things that fills my soul. During those college classes, I got to develop my own film in the darkroom, and fell completely in love.
In 2008 I started Marlaina Joy Photography. I've met so many incredible people in the last 15 years, and have had the honor of being a part of SO many amazing moments in my clients lives. A first kiss as husband and wife, parents holding their newborn baby, seniors about to graduate, Bar / Bat Mitzvah's, new companies opening, birthdays and the list goes on.
When you hire me, you can be sure that I'm going to put everything that I've got into making your photo session amazing. The memories we capture will stand the test of time. My clients feel like friends and family after sessions are over, because we have so much fun! I am a mama to two amazing, tween-agers. This all gives me the gift of perspective - at this stage of my career. Not just about camera settings and lighting, but about family, connection, and holding on to memories.
